On October 28, the PearlAqua Micro series products of AquiSense Technologies, a global leader in UVC LED water disinfection technology, obtained the world's first NSF component certification. PearlAqua Micro is certified by NSF International to meet the new NSF / ANSI 55 "Material Safety and Structural Integrity" standard. The PearlAqua Micro™ series is approved for use in the newly released Standard 55 water disinfection safety component.

PearlAqua Micro is the world’s smallest UVC LED water treatment system, with tens of thousands of units shipped this year. PearlAqua Micro includes 5 discrete model sizes, provides a flow rate of up to 8lpm and third-party verified disinfection performance, which can reduce pathogens up to 6-log (99.9999%). The PearlAqua micro-range is designed to be integrated at the point of use, and provides 12 or 24 VDC input voltage, automatic switch control, multiple sensing/alarm options, and customizable housing options. It is trusted by the world's leading OEM brands and is produced at the AquiSense plant in Kentucky, USA, and meets the ISO-9001:2015 quality standard.

The NSF/ANSI 55-2019 standard has recently been updated to address the technical differences between LEDs and traditional mercury lamps. NSF will soon conduct microbiological performance certification. This will provide additional verification for PearlAqua Micro, which has completed the third-order microbiological test, and can provide supplemental bacterial treatment for drinking water. This provides "last mile" protection for many product applications.

"Achieving NSF/ANSI 55-2019 certification is another example of PearlAqua leading the development of UVC LED technology," said Oliver Lawal, CEO of AquiSense. "Before September 2019, there was no specific standard for LED technology in water treatment applications. Our team has been supporting NSF International for many years to ensure that the new 55 standard is stable, reliable and future-oriented. We look forward to working with global OEMs. Cooperation with suppliers to integrate PearlAqua components to maximize human protection and environmental protection.” Lawal concluded.
