The patent infringed by Salon in the United States involves the manufacturing process and application of UV LEDs, including EPI technology, FAB technology, component packaging technology and curing technology that generate ultraviolet rays.
Salon, a U.S. UV glue curing equipment manufacturer, has reached an agreement with Seoul Viosys to compensate for losses caused by infringement, and to pay all patent royalties on the sale of UV glue curing equipment in the future, and no longer sell problematic patent infringing products . Through this judgment, Seoul Viosys' patent has been clearly recognized by the UV LED industry, and at the same time it is also issuing a warning to companies that use its patents without authorization.
Seoul Viosys has been co-developing UV LEDs with Japan's NS company since 2001, and has maintained cooperation with SETi, a professional short-wavelength UV manufacturer established in 1999. Since 2005, it has invested in joint research and development of UV LEDs. In 2015, it was approved by the U.S. Department of Defense and the Investment Committee to formally use violeds, a clean technology to ensure the health of astronauts on the space station, for human life, and continue to expand the market.
