The Second Office of the Anti-Narcotics Commission of Thailand held a special auction on April 23. The auction items were six precious pet cats seized from the homes of drug cartels, including one Bengal cat and five Scottish fold cats.

The drug trafficker was arrested and brought to justice on March 15 this year. The items the police seized from his home included these 6 pet cats. 30 days after the notice was issued, no relevant person came to claim it, so he decided to auction it in accordance with the law. The staff of the anti-drug office said that animals seized from the homes of criminals had been auctioned before, including crocodiles, pigs, and cows, but this was the first time that pet cats were auctioned. Since the six cats have been living together, in order not to have a greater impact on the cat’s psychology, they were auctioned as a whole. The starting price was 90,000 baht (approximately RMB 18,600). A total of 9 people participated in the auction. The entire auction process continued. In just 7 minutes, a cat lover from Rayong province finally bought them for 100,000 baht (approximately 20,700 yuan) and took them back to their new home together. The auction money will be used for drug control.
