LED / LCD: Which Technology Is Better ?

LCD and LED technologies have their own advantages and disadvantages. In terms of resolution, LCD has taken the initiative - the first QHD resolution phone Oppo Find 7 is the use of the LCD display. However, the soon-to-be-released Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has also caught up with the gap. After several tests over the past few years, the outside world found that Samsung's high-end Super AMOLED panel in color reproduction than the same level of LCD panel more accurate. According to DisplayMate, a display test facility, the Galaxy Note 4 is the highest color display available today. Anyway, the difference between it and the same level of LCD panel may not be obvious either.

LED is a relatively new technology, its name also allows us to have a general idea of how it works. LED does not have a single layer of backlight and a large number of pixel filters, it is using millions of individually controlled organic LED light source.

The AM in the LED name represents the active-matrix, which represents the transistor switching technique used to control each LED pixel. The active matrix continues to drive a single LED through the transistor, even when other LEDs change states. In contrast, passive matrices are controlled through an X / Y axis array, which means you have to refresh the rows and columns individually or simultaneously to change the state of individual pixels.

LED is becoming an increasingly popular screen technology, of course, for a reason. However, in the foreseeable future, LCD will still continue to compete with it.
