Indiana School District will use LightS Technology 222nm UVC to clean the air

West Lafayette-Purdue University-affiliated LED lighting manufacturers have created new technologies to help protect schools from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Florida-based Energy Harness Corp. has offices in Purdue Research Park in Indianapolis. The company has developed a device that can be fixed to a ceiling grid and uses lights far UVC Light clean and circulate the air.

   The university said that the energy company is installing the technology for the Beech Grove City School and Franklin Town Community School Company in central Indiana.


Patricio Daneri, Managing Director of the Energy Midwest Division, said: "We have proven that studies have shown that UV lamps can kill the COVID-2 pathogen."   Purdue said that the energy team created this technology by using its expertise in lights far UVC lighting and their familiarity with school customers.


   Daneri said: “We want to help because we know that schools can disinfect surfaces and areas, but they may not have the same choice to clean the air.”


   Daneri said that during the pandemic, some schools may be able to use federal and state funds to help pay for the technology.
