The basic principle of LED display
Light-emitting diode (LED) is composed of 35 kinds of compound semiconductor material for the photoelectric components, the core is PN junction. At the forward voltage, the electrons are injected into the P region from the N region. The holes are injected into the N region from the P region, and some of the minority carriers entering the other region recombine with the majority carrier. The material properties (band gap) that form the PN junction determine the wavelength of the emitted light, which determines the color of the light for visible light.
The main features of LED are: small size, low power consumption, long life, high brightness and low heat, environmental protection and other characteristics. In the appropriate current and voltage work, LED life can be as long as 100,000 hours.
LED classification and application
Depending on the type of light emitted, LEDs can be divided into visible and non-visible LEDs.
Visible LED includes red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple LED. The red LED material is dominated by GaP (binary system), AlGaAs (ternary system) and AlGaInP (quaternary system). The blue / white LED material is mainly GaN.
