Commonly Used LED Shelf Display Terminology
1, LED brightness
The luminance of the light emitting diode is generally expressed in the light intensity (Luminous Intensity), and the unit is Candela CD; 1000ucd (micro Candela) =1 MCD (milli Candela), 1000mcd=1 CD. Indoor single LED light intensity is generally 500ucd-50 MCD, and outdoor single LED light intensity should generally be 100 mcd-1000 MCD, or even more than 1000 MCD.
2, LED pixel module
LED is arranged into matrices or segments, prefabricated into standard size modules. Indoor LED display commonly used 8*8 pixel module, 8 character 7 segment digital module. Outdoor LED display pixel module has 4*4, 8*8, 8*16 pixels and other specifications. The pixel module of the outdoor display is made up of two or more LED bundles, so it is also called the collector module.
3, pixel (PixEL) and pixel diameter
Each LED display unit (DOT), which can be controlled individually, is called pixel (or pixel) in LED display screen. Pixel diameter refers to the diameter of each pixel, which is millimeter.
For indoor display, generally a single LED, the shape is round. The size of the indoor display screen is usually 3, 3.75, 5, 8 and 3.75, respectively.
In outdoor environment, in order to improve brightness and increase the sight distance, one pixel contains more than two cluster LED; because more than two cluster LED is generally not round, the pixel diameter of outdoor display is generally expressed in 22 pixel mean space: PH10, PH11.5, PH16, PH22, PH25.
4, point spacing, pixel density and information capacity
The center distance or the point distance (Dot Pitch) of the 22 pixels of the LED display; the number of pixels in the unit area is called the pixel density; the amount of the content contained within the unit area is called the information capacity. The three essence is to describe the same concept: the point spacing is the pixel density from the distance between the 22 pixels, the point spacing and the pixel density are the physical properties of the display screen, and the information capacity is the quantity unit of the information carrying capacity of the pixel density.
The smaller the point spacing, the higher the pixel density and the more information capacity, the closer the distance is suitable for viewing. The larger the point spacing, the lower the pixel density and the less information capacity, the farther the distance is suitable for viewing.
5. Resolution
The number of pixels in the LED display pixel is called the resolution of the LED display screen. Resolution is the total amount of pixels of a display screen, which determines the information capacity of a display screen.
6, LED display (LED Panel)
The LED pixel module is arranged in a matrix according to the actual needs, and it is matched with a special display drive circuit, DC voltage regulator, software, frame and exterior decoration, which constitute a LED display.
7, gray scale
Grayscale refers to the degree of change in the brightness and brightness of a pixel, and the intensity of a basic color is usually from 8 to 1024. For example, if the grayscale of each primary color is 256, the color of dual color color display is 256 * 256=64K color, also known as the 256 color display.
8, double base color
Nowadays most color LED displays are dual color color screens, that is, each pixel has two LED cores: one is a red light tube core, the other is a green light tube core. When the red light tube core is bright, the pixel is red. When the green light tube core is bright, the pixel is green, while the red and green two cores are bright at the same time, the pixel is yellow. One of them is red and green is called basic color.
9. Full color
The red and green double primary colors plus the blue base color make up the three colors. As the technology of making full color blue tube and pure green tube core is now mature, the market basically uses full color.
