British Traffic Research Laboratory data show that in 2016, the number of road traffic accidents in the United Kingdom to 1792 people, including pedestrians accounted for 448 people. To reduce pedestrian traffic accidents, the British Direct Line Insurance Company and the University of London College (UCL) and urban design experts to create an intelligent interactive sidewalk.
This intelligent walkway, set up in Piccadilly Circus, is 22 metres in length and is made of waterproof LED screens. When pedestrians stand in a specific circle of intelligent sidewalks, the circle turns from red to green, and white intelligent zebra crossings appear in front of the road. Cars on both sides of the LED screen will stop when they see the zebra crossing, so pedestrians don't have to stare at traffic lights as they used to. It is safer to throw aside the uncontrollable factors of pedestrians crossing the road.
