Apple will, for the first time, design and produce its own device screens and conduct secret tests in preparation for future spin-offs from Samsung and LG, Bloomberg reported.

Apple is using secret facilities near its California headquarters to produce a small number of screens for testing purposes, and apple is testing the most popular micro led screens available.  Micro led screens have lower energy consumption, longer life and better finesse than the highest-end OLED screens on the market today.

Apple has applied for more than 30 micro led patents in south Korea, according to new foreign media reports, demonstrating the company's determination to develop screens.  South Korean media said apple had previously acquired lux vue technology, which develops micro led screen technology.  Apple has filed a total of 11 micro led - related patents and lux vue has filed 23 patents over the past decade, according to the Korean government.  That means apple has as many as 34 micro led patents in total.  Apple's patents cover a variety of technologies for micro led screens, such as chip architecture, control systems, and control handling of micro led screens.

So far, however, apple has no large-scale manufacturing capability for display screens and still needs to buy from companies such as sharp, LG, Samsung and Japanese monitors.  Apple bought an OLED screen exclusively supplied by Samsung's display company last year on its iphone x phone.  Of the current screen vendors for apple's iphone, Samsung is the full screen vendor for iphone x, while jdi, lgd, etc. are the screen vendors for the iphone 8 and older iphone series.

The industry believes there is still a long way to go before micro led can be used in mobile phones, and even if apple has successfully developed micro led, it will be a few years before mass production takes place.

In recent years, apple has made great progress in independent research and development. at present, many components of iphone are researched and developed by apple or acquired by small and medium-sized manufacturers to obtain technology. at present, including mobile phone chips, vibration motors and so on are researched and developed independently by apple.
