Global signage and professional display LED installation capacity in 2012 reached 57 billion units. For LED display demand forecast, in the next five years will continue to flourish. According to the US market analyst at the ElectroniCast in California, consumption is expected to nearly triple by 2018, reaching 143 billion units. "As the number grows, the consumption value will increase, but the average price will drop to a large extent," the ElectroniCast adviser commented.

Americas and Asia-Pacific market share is now close, but the expansion of the Asia-Pacific region is expected to be the fastest, about 22.8% per year. Europe, the Middle East and Africa account for less global consumption.

Electronicast explains that its 2012-2018 market reviews and forecasts are based on "standard" and high brightness (HB) LEDs in signage and professional display applications. The above-mentioned high-brightness LEDs are defined as rated 30 lumens / watt and above, and the standard type is less than 30 lm / W. LEDs are increasingly used in building facades, large outdoor video screens, digital billboards, sports / stadium displays, mini-indoor retail displays, restaurants and supermarkets for food display, mass transit vehicles and destination signs, LED and LCD TV screen and other applications.
