Japan's First Mutated New Coronavirus Cluster Infection

Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare announced on the 30th local time that five people in their 40s to 60s were found in Tokyo and Saitama Prefecture, Japan, who were diagnosed with the mutated new crown virus discovered in the UK. Among them, the three infected people in Saitama Prefecture were close contacts of patients who were previously confirmed to be infected with the mutant new coronavirus. The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare believes that this is the first time a cluster infection of mutant new coronavirus has occurred in Japan. The five newly diagnosed people have been hospitalized and reportedly have no close contacts.


   At present, a total of 64 cases of mutated new coronavirus infection have been detected in Japan.
